Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry Wayzata MNWe Offer a Full Range of Sedation for Your Complete Relaxation
We are very aware of and understanding that dental appointments can be a worrisome experience for some patients. Needles, drilling, and other aspects of a procedure create anxieties that make visits challenging for these patients. At our practice, we make it easy for you to let go of your fears with conscious sedation dentistry. We are one of the few practices in the state to administer IV as well as oral sedation. For lighter sedation, we may use nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as laughing gas.

Our doctors are certified in the use of IV sedation, which gives the highest level of sedation. It is a very controllable and accurate means of sedation that takes effect in the shortest amount of time. Most people do not remember any of the work performed, and an hour in the chair will seem like only minutes. IV stands for intravenous, which means it is given directly into the bloodstream. It is very safe and is also used for longer appointments requiring extensive treatments. It is a suitable option for those who are very fearful of any type of treatment.

If moderate sedation is right for you, we offer oral conscious sedation. You just take one pill one hour before your treatment and gradually reach a deeper level of sedation. Your level of consciousness lets you respond to questions asked by the doctor, but you will not be aware of the work being performed. After the procedure is complete, you will have someone drive you home. In an hour or so, you will be completely alert again.

Some people's fear centers around being knocked out. With conscious sedation, however, you retain a certain level of perception. You are not completely out as if for surgery. This sedation resolves the problems of feeling stressed, fearful, or uncomfortable during treatment, and lets you relax throughout your visit.
